When I installed my HPS pads, I followed the Hawk bed-in instructions completely. During steps 1 and 2, I never stopped completely (i've read it's bad to do so): 1.After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure. 2.Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph. 3.DO NOT DRAG BRAKES! 4.Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down. 5. After step 4 your new pads are ready for use. I went out at 10-11pm when the roads were empty and planned out a route of back roads that would let me do this properly. 10 stops from 35 to ~5mph. 3 stops from 45 to ~5. Drove around for around 15 minutes primarily using engine braking when needed. If I had to stop completly, I'd coast down to <5mph then use the ebrake to keep the pads from touching.
